Deploying to Asia: The Norwegian Navy and CSG25

IFS Asia invited to a breakfast seminar on Norway's contribution to the UK Navy Carrier Strike Group deployment "Highmast" to the Indo-Pacific.

A special thanks to Rear Admiral Oliver Berdal, Chief of the Royal Norwegian Navy, who opened the seminar with remarks on the operational and military rationale behind the deployment, followed by a Q&A with Professor Øystein Tunsjø.

The discussion panel was moderated by Professor Ian Bowers.

Captain Kevin Rowlands of the Royal Navy offered a British perspective and discussed combined operational efforts. Professor Alessio Patalano from King's College London provided insights on the operation within the broader context of Indo-Pacific security and Asia-Europe relations. Dr. Wrenn Yennie Lindgren, Senior Research Fellow at NUPI, presented Japan's perspective – a key Indo-Pacific partner for the UK, Norway, and NATO. Finally, retired Vice Admiral Louise Dedichen shed light on NATO's perspective on European deployments to the Indo-Pacific.

The seminar took place at Høymagasinet in Oslo and was not streamed.
